One week down and one week to go. A tremendous amount has been accomplished in the first week and we are heading into the final week with the potential of having a tremendous show. There are a few things I want to bring to your attention regarding this final week:
Monday is Costume Day. Please bring all of your costumes in and have it approved by Mrs.. Reynolds. Based on what you bring in, Mrs.. Reynolds will give you additional items for specialty characters.
Also, if you have any of the props we are looking for please bring them in on Monday.
The Jr Cast - Pippin, Catherine , Theo and both leading players need to come at 3 PM on Monday to run scene 7 on stage.
I would like Pippin, Charles, Lewis, Fastrada, Catherine, the Leading Players, to come each day next week at 3 PM to run lines.
All non soldiers, non leads, need to bring a shovel, rake, or hoe to rehearsal on Monday to stage the Extraordinary number that you are now in as farmers. Please tape your name on the handle of your gardening tool.
Mrs.. Ganowski will still be testing make up designs at 3 PM each day. If you are a player and have had not had the make up tested on you, please come early, 3 PM on Monday.
Thursday will be a FULL DRESS REHEARSAL. People should try to arrive by 3 PM so we can start the run in costumes at 4 PM.We will try to do the show at least twice.
On Friday, people can arrive any time after noon but definitely before 1 PM. With so many players to make up, the earlier we can start the better. We will have food brought in as no one will be able to leave the school for dinner.
Please tell everyone you know about the performances on Friday July 30th. The Jr cast show is at 3 PM and the evening performances are at 6 and 8:30 PM. All seats are reserved and there is an advantage in getting your tickets as soon as possible to insure better seating.
Only so much can be accomplished between 4 and 9 PM each night. It is essential that you spend time going over your lines, the blocking, your songs and the choreography. If each person makes a real effort to know everything they need to know, we will have plenty of time in rehearsal to blend all your efforts together to make the show work. If people don't do their homework, honestly, this will not work.
Thanks for all you are doing to make "PIPPIN" a success. - John

BROADWAY THEATER WORKSHOP
PERFORMANCE CAMP
“PIPPIN”
( Please excuse this for being a little late but I wanted to be sure everyone was assigned a specific role. )
Listed below is the cast list for our summer performance camp production of “PIPPIN”. We are really impressed with the very talented cast we have and are sure this will be a tremendous production. Trying to cast this show has been very difficult and many of you are capable of playing a variety of the leads. We will be adding characters and feature roles to the original script. To provide more students an opportunity to play a lead, we will be going even a step further than double casting the show , we will have a younger, junior set of leads and we will try to perform the show three times on July 30TH ( 3 PM, 6 PM and 8:30 PM). When you are not a lead or a specific character you will be in the other productions as a player. That being said, the chorus of this show as is the case in most shows, will really make the difference in how good a production we have. If you are a player member, I hope you understand the importance of your role.
For us to be able to put up a show in two weeks, everyone must learn their parts before they arrive at our first rehearsal on
Monday, July 19th. You will only be able to use your script once.
You should also be comfortable with all the songs you are in.
Rehearsals begin at 4 PM. We will have a half hour dinner break but you will not be able to go to the store so you must either bring your dinner or order pizza which will be available for $1.50 a slice each night. You must wear shoes or sneakers – NO SANDALS OR FLIP FLOPS.
Any questions Email me at jasselta@sjrtheater.com or Diana Fasano at dfasano@sjrtheater.com
Looking forward to seeing you Monday night at 4 PM.

On Friday, the last day of camp, there will be a “demonstration” at 1 PM.
( This is being conducted at 1 PM instead of 2 PM so we can get ready for our performances of “ Footloose” at 6 and 8:30 Pm at the Hilton Woodcloff Lake) The demonstration is different than a show as we will demonstrate for the parents, relatives and friends of the campers, some of the things we have been doing in camp during the week( acting exercises, auditioning techniques, theater games and some of the songs and the dancing they have been taught). It’s important that everyone realize this as we don’t want the entire week dedicated to just rehearsing for a show. We are more concerned with the “process” not just the finished “ product” so all campers will do more learning and be better performers at the end of the week.
Please feel free to invite anyone you would like to St Joe’s at 1 PM this Friday.
Thanks – John Asselta
